Midterm Elections are Here
Nov 3 is Election Day in Texas. If you haven’t voted yet, there’s still time.
According to Ryan Data & Research, 7.7 million Texans voted early. That still leaves about 60% of registered voters who haven’t cast a ballot yet.
Here’s a simple checklist to help you, and the people you know, get it done.

Before You Go Vote
1. Find your polling place. Check VoteTexas.gov or your county elections website for locations. Some counties post wait times, too.
2. Put it on your calendar. Block the time so the day doesn’t get away from you.
3. Schedule your ride. Plan how you’ll get there, and invite someone to go with you.
4. Research your ballot. Pull up a sample ballot from your county so you know what’s on it before you go.
5. Bring your ID. Check the list of accepted IDs at VoteTexas.gov before you head out.

Once You’re at the Polling Place
6. Stay in line at closing time. If you’re in line by 7:00 PM, you can still vote. Don’t leave until you’ve cast your ballot. Poll workers are required to let everyone in line vote.
7. Fix a mistake before you submit. Made a mistake? No problem. Before you cast your ballot, ask a poll worker for a new one.
8. Ask about a paper option if machines are down. If voting machines aren’t working, don’t leave. Ask a poll worker about your options, including a paper ballot.
If there’s a registration issue
- Ask the poll worker to double-check, and spell your name for them.
- Confirm you’re at the right polling place. A poll worker can help you find the correct one.
- If it’s still not resolved, ask for a provisional ballot.
What’s a provisional ballot? It lets you vote even if your registration is in question. After Election Day, officials check whether you were eligible and registered. If you were, your vote counts.
